Arles-sur-Tech

Arles-sur-Tech nestles beside theTech River in the Tech Valley.  Being close to Spain it is a typical Catalonian village.  You will see the red and yellow of the Catalonian flag all over the region.  Arles-sur-Tech is the capital of the Vallespir district.

The village grew up around an important Benedictine Abbey which was established in the town in the year 778.  There are a number of other historical and architectural points of interest to be visited.
Arles sur Tech as with all the other towns and villages in the region retain their old traditions which are often celebrated  with fetes.  The village has all the facilities you need: bakers, butchers, tabacs, grocers, a small Spar, chemist, cafes, restaurants and a hotel.

Arles sur Tech has very good tennis courts, an outdoor swimming pool and a great children's play area.  There is an international basketball centre with saunas and gym.
Once you reach the river, over a narrow bridge you can walk along and find many secluded inlets to bath, sunbathe or get lost in a good book. Amelie-les-Bains, next to Arles sur Tech is especially good for bathing with numerous small riverside beaches.

The mountains give rise to endless activities, walking, mountain biking, fishing, hunting and skiing in the winter.
When did you ever play mountain golf.  Le Domaine de Falgos is high in the Pyrénées, but only 45 minutes away.  A wonderful plateau giving 5 star golf and country club facilities.
The Mediterranean coast is only 45 minutes away.  Pure white sand, palm trees and all the water sports you need.  The ports are great for fish markets, cafes and boutiques.
